Mazda Motor Indonesia (MMI) membuktikan janjinya dengan meluncurkan Mazda RX-8 Spirit R, Rabu ni (15/2/2012) di Central Park, Jakarta. Generasi terakhir dari Mazda RX-8 ini dibanderol Rp682 juta on the road DKI Jakarta.

Mazda RX-8 Spirit R dipersenjatai mesin rotari yang dikawinkan dengan transmisi otomatis enam percepatan dengan kontrol elektronik.

"Para pelaku industri otomotif saling berkompetisi dalam menciptakan mesin berefisiensi tinggi demi menjawab kebutuhan gaya hidup modern," paparPresiden Direktur MMI, Keizo Okue dalam sambutannya.

Lebih lanjut, Okue mengatakan Rotary engine dan Mazda RX-8 merupakan cara Mazda untuk menunjukkan kemampuannya dalam membayangkanj, merancang, serta mengimpletasikan solusi untuk masa depan yang lebih baik. Untuk mengabadikan spirit endurance dari Mazda RX-8 yang akan berakhir masa produksinya.

Sekedar informasi, Mazda Motor Corporation sebagai prinsipal MMI telah mengumumkan bahwa Juni 2012 mendatang merupakan periode terakhir dari produksi Mazda RX-8.

RX-8 Spirit R memiliki lampu depan, lampu kabut, dan lampu kombinasi di belakang dengan lapisan hitam agar terlihat lebih garang. Selain itu, untuk meningkatkan tampilan kaliper rem depan dan belakang berwarna merah. Di dalam kabin telah tertanam jok eksklusif dan juga tirai. Sedangkan, untuk fitur keselamatan telah disematkan airbag SRS front side.

PT Mazda Motor Indonesia (MMI) on Wednesday launched its latest series of RX sports car and showcased the limited edition RX-8 Spirit R.

MMI president director Keizo Okue said that he was very proud to launch the limited edition sports car in Jakarta because Indonesians have always welcomed every Mazda series.

"This final special edition car reflects the spirit of the RX series. Our target is to sell five units of RX-8 Spirit R per month until June," Okue said from the sidelines of the launch in Central Park, West Jakarta.

He said that he was optimistic that sales would exceed targets since several cars have been already ordered by before the launch.

Even a RX-8 Spirit R displayed at the launch was already sold and would be delivered very soon, he said.

He said that 30 to 35 cars from the new series, costing Rp 682 million (US $75,502) each, could be sold this year.

"Indonesia's automotive market is growing and we believe our sales will also continue to grow, including for this series," Okue added.

He said that MMI was able to sell 300 cars from the previous RX series from 2008 to 2011, with 36 cars sold in 2011.

In Indonesia, the RX-8 Spirit R will be available in three colors: metallic aluminum, sparkling black mica and crystal white pearl.

Similar to the older RX series, the limited edition car has a rotary engine.

However, sporty and more stylish features could be seen in its alloy wheels with black center caps, the red brake calipers, the black bezel of the head and tail lights, and the Recaro leather seats.

Mazda made only 1,000 cars for this series, he said.

He said that his firm expected a 33 percent rise in sales to 12,000 this year, following 50 percent growth to see 9,056 cars sold last year.

He said that he was concerned about the global economy, although the crisis would not affect Indonesia greatly.

MMI will also build nine new sales outlets across the country.

"We are going to have 37 sales outlets in Indonesia by the end of this year," he said.

Investment in the outlets would range from Rp 20 billion ($2.22 million) and Rp 30 billion each, depending on the location.

The company currently has 28 existing outlets across the archipelago.

In addition, MMI will introduce a limited edition CX-5 sports car, as well as all new Mazda BT-50 pickup trucks, onto the local market in the first half of the year.

In Indonesia, the Mazda 2 hatchback, which is mostly sold in urban areas, created the largest contribution in sales, with 60.88 percent, followed by the BT-50 pickup truck with a 19.74 percent share. (nfo)
