has launched the all-new Mazda8 for
RM 195,404.20 on-the-road with insurance. The full-size Mazda8 MPV complements the smaller Mazda5 in the model range, and competes against the likes of Honda Odyssey and Mitsubishi Grandis.

Power to haul the Mazda8 comes from a 2.3-litre MZR petrol engine with Sequential Valve Timing (S-VT), a reworked version of the 2.3-litre unit used in the previous-generation Mazda6 sedan. The generated 161 bhp at 6500 rpm and 203 Nm at 3500 rpm goes to the front wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission with Activematic, Mazda's manual over-ride function.

The seven-seater cabin offers sliding Super Relax Seats in the middle, 60:40 split-folding seats at the back, and electric sliding doors plus tailgate for convenient access to the rear. In case of an accident, the front driver and passenger can rely upon front and side airbags, while the rear passengers get curtain airbags. But of course, there is the usual host of braking controls (ABS, EBD and BA) and disc brakes to prevent any mishaps in the first place.

At the launch of the Mazda8 at Mid Valley Megamall yesterday, Bermaz Motor said that there were 80 pre-launch orders, and that the waiting time for delivery currently stands at one and a half months. Mazda's latest arrival is on display at the Mid Valley till Sunday, so head down for a closer inspection of the car!
